Short Delivery to an Outlet: Confirm It and Close the Difference

By Asaad Al Hashmi, Founder and CEO of Wady

An outlet that receives less than the kitchen sent confirms the quantity it received, and can add a note and a photo. The difference then shows in Wady Central for the kitchen to resolve, and the kitchen closes what remains with a write-off. This guide covers both sides: the outlet's confirmation and the kitchen's follow-up.

Key takeaways

  • The outlet confirms the quantity it received, and can add a note and a photo.

  • A delivery stays on the In transit tab, with its age counting, until it is confirmed.

  • A confirmed delivery with a difference shows on the Unresolved tab for the kitchen.

  • Write off closes the remaining difference as a loss. It puts no stock back.

What is a short delivery?

A short delivery is one where the outlet receives less than the delivery note says. It is a different problem from a short pick, where the kitchen sends less than the outlet ordered. At picking, the unsent part stays owed on the same order line. This guide is about the other case: the kitchen sent the quantity on the note, and less arrived.

Wady Central records the gap as a difference with a value, so nothing goes missing without a record.

How do you confirm a short delivery and close the difference in Wady Central?

At the outlet

  1. Open the delivery in the app the outlet orders with.

  2. Enter the quantity you received.

  3. Add a note that says why, and a photo of what arrived.

  4. Save the confirmation. The delivery leaves the kitchen's In transit list.

In the kitchen

  1. Open Dispatch and click the Unresolved tab. It lists confirmed deliveries that have a difference.

  2. Find the delivery. Check the difference against what the kitchen sent. See delivery notes for outlets for what the note holds.

  3. If the goods are lost, click Write off. It closes the difference as a loss. No stock goes back to the kitchen.

What if the outlet has not confirmed yet?

Until someone confirms, the delivery stays on the In transit tab. The counter on that tab shows how many deliveries are open, the value not yet confirmed and the age of the oldest, and each row shows its own value and age. Dispatch in the sidebar carries a red badge while deliveries are in transit, and the Daily Brief flags deliveries pending confirmation. See the daily kitchen report.
